3D Printing for Architects
City Digital Imaging is proud to offer its newest digital reprographics service offering: 3D Printing for architectural model making. Compared to traditional model making practices, the process is fast, versatile, and easy to utilize, allowing designers to produce a range of models or component parts quickly and cost-effectively as direct output from 3D software applications.
The digital process accurately represents small design details and enables the building of complex forms such as domes and asymmetric shapes. 3D model parts are made of a plaster-based powder bound together with a water-based binder and hardened with an epoxy fluid. They may be sanded and painted for a finished appearance or used “as is”.
Uses for 3D printing include:
- Competition models
- Client presentation models
- Finished models for public displays
- Creation of component parts for hand-built models
